Additional Information

I was born in Jerusalem to a family that arrived at the beginning of the 19th century. I was brought up alternately between Israel and the United States. After acquiring a degree from Oregon State University and working many years as a Civil Engineer for the City of Los Angeles I turned to my original passion of touring and traveling. I set out on my trusty Trek bicycle in 1997 and circumvented the globe pedaling about 30000 km. and visiting many countries, enjoying new vistas and cultures. Six years later I returned to the land that I love the most – Israel.
Here I became a licensed tour guide and have toured, explored and examined every nook and cranny, near and far , high and low.

I particularly specialize in Jerusalem, its byways-ancient and new, wars and conflicts and of course its complex and varied history.
I also enjoy the Negev and its machteshim (craters), the Galilee and its rich history both Jewish and early Christian and many other regions of this complicated yet wonderful country.
I offer bicycle tours to the cyclists amongst you that are interested in instructed guidance while pedaling the back roads that motorized vehicles cannot reach.

It would be my pleasure to accommodate your touring needs, may it be a bicycle tour in the lowlands or a thorough walking tour of Jerusalem.

Shai was our guide and we tremendously enjoyed his knowledge and his story teller skills. We had been to Jerusalem multiple times before and had not realized how much more there was to learn. Shai brought back to life centuries of history. A most pleasant and educational experience to be highly recommended.   New Post     Replay to post     Close           Shai is AMAZING! -  27/4/2010 23:21     Shai guided us to follow Jesus’ footsteps in his last 2 days in Jerusalem. Shai has an EXCELLENT historical and Architectural knowledge and could speak to every single stone in the city, and from each denomination’s perspective. He was flexible to accommodate all of our last minute requests and although we set the tour for 4 hours he stayed with us for 7 (!!), and we could have kept going with him for the whole week!
